The PRO-FOR PROFOR06004 Drain Auger is designed for clearing pipe blockages with a flexible 16.4 ft cable. It can be operated manually or used with a compatible power drill. When using a power drill, the operating speed must not exceed 500 RPM.
Product Overview
Model: PROFOR06004
Product: Drain Auger
Cable Length: 16.4 ft / 5 m
Cable Diameter: 7 mm
Drum Diameter: 5.9 in / 150 mm
Weight: 4 lb / 1.8 kg
The main parts include the flexible cable, switch, case, drum, handle stand and rotary handle.
Before Operation
Check the drain auger and flexible cable for damage before use. Replace the flexible cable if it shows excessive wear, corrosion, bending or deformation.
Keep the work area properly lit and free from flammable liquids, gases or dust. Keep the flexible cable pointed away from the operator and other people.
When positioning the tool near the pipe opening, keep the drain auger close enough to the opening to help prevent the cable from twisting or knotting.
Extending the Cable
Method 1 — Rotary Handle
Hold the switch on the front handle so the front bearing clamps the cable. Align the cable with the clogged pipe, straighten the folding handle and rotate it clockwise to move the cable forward until it reaches the blocked position.
Do not touch the rotating cable during operation.
Method 2 — Manual Feed
Wear gloves and pull the flexible cable from the drain auger by hand until it reaches the clogged pipe.
Do not press and hold the switch while manually pulling the flexible cable.
Cleaning the Blockage
Once the cable reaches the blockage, release the switch so the cable is locked in position.
Rotate the handle clockwise so the cable can engage the obstruction.
If the blockage cannot be hooked successfully, the manual instructs the operator to work the cable forward and backward several times. The final rotating direction should be clockwise to help the cable catch the blockage before pulling it out.
Retracting the Cable
Press the switch so the front bearing engages the flexible cable, then rotate the handle counterclockwise to retract the cable into the drum.
If the cable head becomes tightly entangled with the blockage, alternate forward and reverse rotation until the cable is released.
The cable can also be pulled out manually while wearing gloves and then fed back into the drum. Do not hold the switch while pulling the cable by hand.
Using the Drain Auger with a Power Drill
Start the drill at its minimum speed. The maximum operating speed for this drain auger is 500 RPM.
Hold the drain auger firmly before starting the drill. Keep your hands and body away from the rotating drum and cable.
Do not force the flexible cable forward. Excessive force may cause the cable to twist, knot or break.
Cleaning and Storage
As the cable is nearly fully retracted, remove debris from the front of the flexible cable.
Allow remaining liquid inside the tool to drain, apply anti-rust oil to the cable, and store the drain auger in a cool, dry place to help prevent rust.
If the pipe cannot be cleared, do not force the machine. The manual recommends contacting a professional rather than continuing to operate the tool forcibly.
