The PRO-FOR CDC501-18 Cordless Drain Cleaner is a battery-powered drain auger designed for clearing compatible household drain pipes.
The machine features variable-speed operation, forward and reverse rotation, automatic cable feed and retraction, a replaceable flexible shaft, a battery indicator, and a work light. The operating manual specifies a speed range of 0–560 RPM and a dredging range of 3/4 in to 2 in.
Product Overview
Product: Cordless Drain Cleaner
Model: PROFOR50118 / CDC501-18
Voltage: 20V product system
Battery Capacity: 2.0Ah
Speed Range: 0–560 RPM
Drain Pipe Range: 3/4 in–2 in
Cable Diameter: 7 mm
The drain cleaner uses an operating handle to control the automatic advance and retraction of the flexible shaft, helping reduce manual cable handling.
Before Operation
Before using the drain cleaner:
- Make sure the battery pack is unplugged while inspecting the machine.
- Check the cable and related components for damage.
- Make sure the waterproof plug is installed correctly.
- Remove any tools or wrenches before operation.
- Check for damaged machine parts that may affect safe use.
- Lubricate the flexible shaft according to the operating manual.
- Replace the flexible shaft if it is excessively worn, corroded, bent, or damaged.
- Keep the flexible shaft pointed away from the operator and other people.
The manual also recommends keeping the cable and work area clean before operation.
Using the Automatic Cable Feed
Position the drain cleaner close to the drain opening.
The manual recommends keeping the machine within approximately 150 mm of the pipe opening to help prevent the flexible shaft from twisting or knotting.
When operating the cable:
- Lightly press the variable-speed switch.
- Move the operating handle forward to advance the flexible shaft.
- Allow the cable to move gradually into the pipe.
- Pull the operating handle back to retract the flexible shaft.
Do not force the cable forward if it becomes blocked, twisted, or knotted.
Variable-Speed Control
The machine uses a variable-speed switch.
The operating speed can be controlled from 0 to 560 RPM:
The greater the pressure applied to the switch, the higher the operating speed.
Use controlled speed when advancing the flexible shaft through a drain.
Forward and Reverse Rotation
The drain cleaner includes forward and reverse rotation controls.
The manual specifies that the direction control should only be changed after the tool has completely stopped rotating.
Reverse rotation is primarily intended to help retract the flexible shaft if it becomes trapped during operation.
Do not switch direction while the machine is still running.
Built-In Work Light
The drain cleaner includes a work light near the front of the machine.
When the trigger is pressed, the work light turns on. When the trigger is released, the light turns off.
Keep the lamp cover clean to maintain adequate illumination during use.
Battery Indicator
The battery pack includes a battery-level indicator.
According to the manual:
- Three indicator lights indicate a high battery level.
- Two lights indicate approximately half charge.
- One light indicates that the battery is running low and should be charged.
Make sure the tool is switched off before installing or removing the battery pack.
If the Cable Becomes Stuck
If the flexible shaft becomes trapped:
- Stop forcing the cable forward.
- Use the forward/reverse controls according to the operating instructions.
- Retract the cable gradually.
- Observe the condition of the cable and blockage before continuing.
If the pipe cannot be cleared normally, the manual recommends stopping operation and seeking professional assistance rather than forcing the machine.
Replacing the Flexible Shaft
The CDC501-18 includes a replaceable flexible shaft.
Before replacement, remove the battery pack.
The manual instructs users to:
- Place the operating handle in the N position.
- Pull out the flexible shaft to expose the connector.
- Remove the M3 set screws with an Allen wrench.
- Remove the old flexible shaft.
- Insert the new shaft into the connector.
- Align the screw holes and reinstall the set screws.
- Push the flexible shaft manually back into the drum.
Do not operate the machine to retract an exposed replacement cable because the exposed shaft may cause injury or damage.
Cleaning, Storage and Maintenance
Before maintenance:
- Switch off the machine.
- Remove the battery pack.
After use, the manual instructs users to expose and remove the waterproof plug so liquid inside the drum can drain out.
Then:
- Drain remaining liquid from the drum.
- Reinstall the waterproof plug.
- Clean the flexible shaft and drum.
- Apply suitable protective lubricant to the flexible shaft if the tool will be stored for a long period.
- Store the machine in a clean, dry place.
Regular cleaning and lubrication help reduce corrosion on the flexible shaft.
Important Safety Information
Always read the operating and safety instructions before use.
Keep hands protected when handling the flexible shaft, and do not force a damaged or trapped cable.
The product and packaging include safety markings and lithium-ion battery handling information. The outer carton identifies the product as a Drain Cleaner and includes the UN3481 lithium battery marking.
